Madeleine Dahm​

Artistic Director of performance (Dance/Theatre)

An accomplished interdisciplinary theatre director and choreographer, she is a master teacher, dramaturgist, editor and physical arts practitioner, who works in the U.S, U.K and Europe. 

 

Dahm is the Director of the Wallis Studio Ensemble - a social justice theatre company in residence at The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, Los Angeles. She is the Co-Artistic Director and Choreographer of Italian theatre company Bämsemble, and Artistic Director of Performance - Dance/Theatre, for the Blue Box. 

 

Dahm was a dancer in the U.K, and received her formal training from Jane Dudley and the legendary Martha Graham. An interest in creating her own work began after Post-Graduate studies at Trinity Laban. Her own socio-political dance theatre pieces toured successfully across the U.K for several years.

In the late 90‘s Dahm began working in the U.S. She has created twenty large scale works, and directed and choreographed productions for acclaimed artists in music, theatre and dance including: Emmy winning film composers Richard Horowitz and Harold Faltermeyer, Béjart Ballet soloist Christopher Aponté, acclaimed producer/director Robert Egan, world music icon Sussan Deyhim, renowned writers Phillip LaZebnik and Victoria Looseleaf. 

 

Dahm began creating her own extensive physical training program for actors called Bodyology, whilst teaching at the University of Southern California. It is an advanced pedagogy adapted from the principles of Laban, Body Weather (from the Butoh), and Viewpoints, it is also heavily influenced by german expressionism.

Dahm is a master teacher and arts education advocate, and the recipient of a Commendation of Excellence from the City of Los Angeles for her role in developing key arts education initiatives. A creative arts life coach, Madeleine also provides leadership and directional coaching for non performers, managers and entrepreneurs.
